Dear Friend,
Graduating with an MBA after seven years in college has given me reason
to reflect back on my collegiate experience. I vividly remember
beginning my studies in 1998 as a wide-eyed student-athlete at the
University of Kansas, and in hindsight, I had no idea what I was getting
myself into! More and more our country is slipping into immorality, and
nowhere is this more apparent than at our college campuses, where the
future leaders of our country and the world are being developed. I’ll
never forget sitting through a class at KU where I was told blatantly
that the Bible was “a product of corrupt men who wrote the book to
influence the social and political environments of their day.” What’s
worse is that this type of teaching is commonplace in universities
across our nation, and students are taking it to heart in the way they
live- as if God does not desperately desire a relationship with them in
which they will find fulfillment.
Going into full-time vocational ministry has never been a part of my
plan- at least, until recently. Yet this is exactly what God has called
me to do for the next year, working with Campus Crusade for Christ to
reach students at Texas Tech. I have been heavily involved in college
ministry as a student over the past seven years, leading Bible Studies
and numerous evangelistic efforts- even starting a Christian fraternity
at OU to encourage accountability among brothers in Christ. I’ve been
blessed to see God produce much fruit through these endeavors. Of all
the experiences I’ve had in my life, these have been by far the most
rewarding and God has put a longing in my heart to continue in these
efforts.
Campus Crusade for Christ was founded in 1951 by Dr. Bill Bright and has
grown into a worldwide organization dedicated to impacting every student
across the world with the love of God. Our mission statement is “Turning
lost students into Christ-centered laborers.” I will be joining a team
at Tech where my focus will be on enacting a strategic plan through the
power of God to win lost students to Christ, build them up in their
faith, and send them out on campus and across the world to serve the
Lord. My term with Crusade begins on August 1, 2005 and will end on July
31, hopefully by accompanying a summer team of students to Moscow
Russia. At the completion of this year, I will re-evaluate and consider
future employment with Campus Crusade for Christ.
I must raise monthly support of $2,400 by September 1, 2005 to cover my
salary ($1000/month) medical benefits, and ministry expenses. Would you
be willing to partner with me, through prayer or financial support, in
ministry to the students at Texas Tech? Please prayerfully consider
financially supporting me for $50, $75, $100, or any other amount per
month.
If you feel led to join me in reaching college students for Christ,
